How to Make a Cyanotype
Every cyanotype begins with a hand-coated paper and a little sunlight. Flowers, feathers, leaves, and other objects are arranged on the paper before it is exposed to ultraviolet light and gently washed with water. The result is a one-of-a-kind blue-and-white print that combines modern art and a century old photographic process.
Coat Paper & Flowers
Arrange flowers, feathers or objects onto hand coated light sensitive paper.
Sunlight
Expose the coated paper to sunlight. The places where the flowers are will remain white while the exposed paper will turn a deep blue.
Wash
Wash the paper to remove the unused chemicals. Washing the paper also makes the chemical reaction permanent.
The Reveal!
Pour Peroxide onto the print and deep blue color will apear. This step is optional. The blue will appear in 24 hours without this step.

The final result is a timeless artform that is a century old. It's important to keep the art process alive. The deep blue and white is timeless.
